Our Traditional And Hybrid Dentures

If you have lost the majority of your smile, then you need more than a dental bridge or a partial set of dentures. To help take on severe tooth loss, we can support a set of custom dentures. In today’s blog, your Shrewsbury, MA, dentist talks about our traditional and hybrid dentures.

The Need for Treating Severe Tooth Loss

If you have lost a large number of your natural teeth, or even all of them, then do not delay! We want to help replace what you have lost and restore function and beauty to your smile again. Even if years have passed since you lost your teeth, we want to help restore your smile and offer results that make you feel confident.

Losing your teeth can have a major impact on your appearance, as your jawbone gradually erodes and you develop an aged appearance. You could find yourself limited in your meal options, and even clear speech could be difficult too! But we can help with a complete set of new teeth, custom-made for your smile.

Traditional Full Dentures

To begin, we will numb your smile so we can gently and carefully extract the last few teeth. We then take detailed digital images of your bite from multiple angles. In a lab setting, we will design and craft a full set of new teeth. These ceramic teeth will look natural and be set in an acrylic base that mimics the appearance of gum tissue. The prosthetic is held in place with suction or possibly the assistance of adhesives, keeping them firmly in place during the day. Being removable means you need to clean and soak them regularly, and they can last about 5 to 10 years before replacement is needed as the jaw ridge changes shape.

Hybrid Dentures

We also offer hybrid dentures, in which we insert multiple dental implants, sometimes as little as four, into each arch of your smile. We then connect the prosthetic to them, so you have a fixed smile that never slips and does not need to be removed for soaking and cleaning. These can last far longer, decades in some cases. If your jawbone has weakened due to tooth loss, we could discuss options like grafting or sinus lift to strengthen your smile.

If you have any questions about how we treat advanced tooth loss with a complete set of new teeth, then talk to our team about our removable or implant-secured hybrid dentures. You deserve a complete smile, and we are there to help you on this journey!
